The Russian operating system

Russia won't see its smartphones at least by 2030: Developers have been deprived of $ 330 million

The Russian operating system "Aurora" will not be able to compete with Android and iOS. The Russian Ministry of Ministry will not allocate money from the state budget for the development of the operating system "Aurora", at least the next few years, the merchant writes. The project, which was planned to be used as a replacement of "not friendly" Android and iOS was overboard of the digital transformation program.

The idea that the developers requested was needed to adapt the Russian mobile OS to smartphones and attract applications under it. However, the Government of the Russian Federation has refused this plan and decided that ordinary people would continue to feel the "detrimental impact of the event" from the devices on iOS and Android, but the state sector should still switch to "Aurora". As a result, the development of the OS decided to decide himself by Rostelecom, who owns Aurora.

Local experts say that the above amount would be too much to adapt software, and not enough to develop their own devices on it. And even in this case, the full transition to the domestic mobile OS would take at least 4 years in a better coincidence. If you add the need to develop your devices here, in ideal financing conditions it can happen no earlier than 2030, analysts say.
