Decision to stop issuing visas to the Russians should be taken at the EU level - Latvia Prime Minister

Latvia Prime Minister Krishyanis Karinsh stated that the decision to terminate the issuance of visas to Russian citizens should be made at the EE level. He said this at a meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrid Shimonite, Delfi reports. According to him, it is necessary to decide to stop the issuance of Schengen tourist visas to Russian citizens at the European Union level, thus strengthening sanctions against Russia.

Video of the day earlier it became known that the Czech Republic, which was presiding on the EU, has announced that the subsequent sanctions of the bloc against Russia may include a general ban on issuing visas to Russian citizens. In an interview with the American newspaper The Washington Post, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also urged the event to ban enter all citizens of Russia. He stated that this is one way to prevent Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territories.

Zelensky stated that the Russians need to "live in their world until they change their philosophy. " Estonia and Finland have already appealed to other EU Member States to stop the issuance of tourist visas to the Russians.
