The Russians reached Finland by the sea to invite political asylum - the media

According to the Finnish press, border violators moved to the country through the Gulf and immediately asked to give them asylum, and therefore they would be released from responsibility. On Saturday morning, June 17, two people crossed the border between Russia and Finland through the Gulf in search of asylum. This was reported by Yonon Castren, Head of the Gulf of the Maritime Patrol Command Center, Yle reports. It is reported that the border violators have sought a shelter in Finland.

They were detained by the coastal protection patrol on suspicion of unauthorized intersection and violation of the state border. A preliminary investigation is being conducted in this case. It is noted that, according to the Criminal Code, if the person who applied for asylum is suspected of violating the state border, he is not considered guilty. Finnish journalists also reminded that this is not the first attempt of the Russians to get shelter in Finland.

Earlier in June, there were two cases of unauthorized border crossing in Southern Karelia, when two people crossed the eastern border and invited a shelter to Finland. We will remind, on June 6 it was reported that nine employees of the Russian Embassy were sent from Finland by the government after their participation in intelligence, which is incompatible with diplomatic status.
