Poland is ready to let in athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus: named the condition

According to the Minister of Sports Kamil Bortnichuk, the Russians and Belarusians will have to sign a special declaration to allow them to be admitted. Poland Minister Kamil Bortnichuk stated that Belarusian and Russian athletes will only be released into the country if they publicly declare that they condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He said this in an interview with RMF24.

According to Bortnichuk, at the instructions of Prime Minister Mateusz Moravtsky, he appealed to the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach. He said that Poland would not invite Belarusian and Russian athletes to the competition if they did not sign the Declaration that they condemned the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine.

"And this statement about the condemnation of the war says that the Russian player is opposed to war crimes, in which the International Criminal Court in the Hague accused Vladimir Putin. If such a Russian athlete will sign such a declaration, I will invite him to Poland and European sports. " , - said Bortnichuk. The minister also said that Poland would not boycott the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Recall that on March 29, the International Olympic Committee made recommendations that allowed national committees and federations of sports to let Russians and Belarusians into competitions, but under several conditions. Among the athletes should not be military servicemen of the armies of the Russian Federation and Belarus, and they will always have to perform under a neutral flag. The IOC noted that this applies only to individual athletes.
