At an enterprise in Eastern Vladivostok, where Mazda, together with a local carmaker Sollers, manufactures cars, last year about 29,000 units of transport came from the conveyor. The plant works on the so -called disassembly method, in which the details go to the local assembly. Previously, production has already been discontinued, and now Mazda is considering the possibility of full exit. The decision to stop sales or maintenance has not yet been made.
As for Toyota, on September 24, the company announced withdrawal from Russian operations. It will stop both manufacturing and selling machines. The exception is the maintenance of cars already sold in Russia. The announcement of Toyota referred to the difficulty of purchasing spare parts and the need to compensate for employees. Not having the opportunity to provide spare parts, there were no prospects for the renewal of production in the near future.
The company produced 80 thousand cars and sold 110,000 cars in the country in 2021, and its plant in St. Petersburg produced RAV4 SUV4 and others. Selling a local unit as other large world companies of local fat sums, the company is not going to decide to "eliminate" it. The media noted that previously Toyota has professed a non -interference policy in the countries where its enterprises are.
However, after Russia invaded Ukraine, some representatives of the carmaker have expressed concern that the continuation of business in Russia will be unacceptable to its shareholders. In addition to Toyota, Nissan Motor has decided to continue the stop of the St. Petersburg plant for the production of ready -made cars from late September to late December. Mitsubishi Motors also stops working with a joint venture from Stellantis Europe in the southwestern part of the Kaluga region.
