The presence of a visa will not guarantee Russian citizens entry into the EU - Borrel

The availability of a visa will not guarantee citizens of the Russian aggressor country entry into the territory of the European Union. This was stated by the Head of Diplomacy of the EU Josep Borrel during a speech at the Inter -Parliamentary Conference on EU Common Foreign Policy. According to him, the ministers agreed that states would use national opportunities to keep the flow of people crossing borders under control.

Video of the Day "The fact of a visa does not mean the right to enter the country. Of course, this is a necessary condition, but even if the visa is issued, it may happen that you will be denied, ”he said. Borrel cited as an example of the United States. “Having a visa, you can get a refusal to enter for one reason or another. The same goes for Europe, ”he said.

Eastern European countries, including the Czech Republic and Poland, as well as the Baltic countries, have already stopped publishing tourist visas to the Russians, and have declared their intention not to let Russians with visas received in other EU countries. Since airplaces between the EU and Russia have been suspended, many Russian tourists use the Baltic countries as a transit route to other EU countries.

Estonia Prime Minister Kai Callas said that 30% of Russians traveling to the EU do so through the territory of Estonia. Against the backdrop of this EU, the EU countries demand that Brussels make a complete ban on the visa visa, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously suggested to punish the Russians for their support of war against Ukraine. Some EU countries, such as Denmark, also support this decision, but provided that it will be collectively adopted by all 27 EU member countries.
