The Economist explained why Russian tanks are massively blown on mines

When trying to attack, the invaders almost do not use the mine -shaped miners, but hope for the engineering machines "Meteorite". During Ukrainian blows, tankers often panic. A fair attempt to capture the coal showed that Russian tanks were massively blown out in the minefields. The British newspaper The Economist explained why this happens. Ukrainian tactics were the replacement of open territory around the carbon.

This made it possible to defeat Russian troops that did not even have time to get to the city. For this, he was resigned to General Rustam Muradov, who was responsible for storming the carbon. However, Russian tankers are blown up on mines throughout the front line. This is despite the fact that mines are not a serious threat to tanks. They can immobilize it, but it is very rare.

The Ukrainian army has Soviet anti-tank mines of TM-62, as well as American mines of RAAM, which can be installed by shooting them from artillery. Tank crews have different ways of relatively safe mine fields. In theory, Russian platoons have to have at least one tank with a mine trall. It is installed in front of the car and activates the mine. Russian troops, according to the publication almost completely abandoned the traces in the summer of 2022.

The Russian Armed Forces relied on engineering units that have UR-77 "Meteorite". Such a machine runs cables that should clear the area 90 meters in length and 6 in width. Theoretically, it has to work. However, in practice, Russian tanks under fire begin to panic and leave the track. Because of this, the first machine can block the movement of the entire column. Therefore, coordination disappears on the battlefield.

The publication already states that the inability of the Russian Federation to break the mine fields seriously complicates their offensive. Soon, the Ukrainian army will need to demonstrate its own ability to overcome mine fields, and Western engineering equipment should help. We will remind, on April 6 in British intelligence curved that due to failures in Ukraine the release among the Russian soldiers will only be more.
