Analysts of the Institute for War Study believe that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can take the city, spending a lot of strength, but especially do not win. Bakhmut's combat losses already exceed any benefits that they can get from the capture of the city.
Since the end of May, they threw a large number of soldiers and equipment on the battlefield, but could only move a few kilometers. The situation is reminiscent of the tactics of Russian troops when seizing Severodonetsk and Lisichansk at the beginning of the war, but these two cities were much more important than Bakhmut. According to Focus, Bakhmut became one of the hottest points in the war in Ukraine.
