Russia asked: Turkey detained the journalist of the Crimean Tatar channel ATR

Gulum Khalilov was detained at Istanbul Airport after arriving from Croatia and lasted for 17 hours. The CEO of the channel believes that they did this on the task of Russian special services. Turkish law enforcement officers detained in Istanbul a journalist of the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR Gulum Khalilov. This was written on Facebook by Deputy CEO of the Channel of ATR Aider Aider Mazhdabayev.

"Shame on the law enforcement agencies of the Turkish Republic! In Istanbul, at the request of the Russian special services, a well -known Ukrainian Crimean Tatar journalist, presented by the TV channel Gulum Khalilov, was detained. The Deputy CEO of the ATR channel asks to assist in the situation of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. In communication with "Ukrainian Truth" Khalilov reported that she was held 17 hours at the request of Russia because of a ban on entry into the country.

CEO of the channel Lenur Islamov said Khalilov was detained on the task of Russian special services. "She has been detained for 16 hours. Release the journalist urgently," she said. The head of the Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov added that Khalilov was detained at night at Istanbul Airport after arriving from Croatia on a Russian request in Interpol. "Detention is not a seizure and even more so. In any case, it is humiliating for those who are delayed illegally.

In this case, according to Russia's materials," Chubarov said. In his opinion, Interpol member states should urgently deprive Russia of membership in this organization. As a result, Gulum Khalilov was released and allowed to enter Turkey. The head of the Majlis believes that it is not necessary to blame law enforcement agencies of Turkey, who are forced to respond to interpol requests from Russia.

The lawyer Mykola Polozov noted that Khalilov was detained on a formal request based on a criminal case fabricated in occupied Crimea. "It is not the first time the Kremlin, using legal mechanisms of interstate interaction, is trying to capture new hostages for further illegal repressive actions on them," he said.
