They will be able to conduct high-precision shooting at a distance of 70-80 km from German PZH 2000. For comparison: the GMLRS missile range for Himars is 84+ km. There are two variants of Vulcano ammunition - a simpler version of BER and advanced GLR. They differ in firing range and accuracy. The more advanced version has a semi -active laser guide and a programmed blast. The guidance system should allow even moving goals.
The howitzer with a barrel of 52 calibers is able to shoot such ammunition at a range of 70-80 km. They were protested at the German PZH 2000 and the French Caesar. However, thanks to the ammunition caliber, it will be suitable for any weapon of 155 mm caliber. If the length of the barrel is smaller, then the shooting range will also decrease to 55 km, for example, on the howitzer M777.
The simpler version has a range of 50 km when shooting with a gun with a barrel of 52 caliber and 36 with a barrel length of 39 calibers. It has no guidance system. It is unknown which version will receive the Armed Forces, but the authors of the publication claim that much indicates that it will be more advanced. We will remind, Pentagon announced a new package of assistance for the Armed Forces for $ 775 million. It will include missiles, ammunition, UAVs and a number of other weapons.
