The Armed Forces want to flood Tokmak on the eve of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces in the city - Bellingcat (photo, video)

Researcher Michael Sheldon analyzed the satellite images and concluded that the occupiers had erected a dam on the outskirts of the city in order to blow it up and slow down the offensive of the Armed Forces. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation can also use it as a spare bridge. The Russian military built a dam on the outskirts of the occupied Tokmak (Zaporizhzhya region) to flood the city and thus try to stop the counter -offensive of the Armed Forces.

Bellingcat researcher Michael Sheldon wrote about it on Thursday, June 29. The investigator has experience with open sources since he covered the ATO in the Donbass. Sheldon has now analyzed Planet satellite images. On their basis, he concluded that Russia built a dam on the outskirts of the occupied Ukrainian city of Tokmak in the Zaporozhye region before the counter -offensive of Ukraine.

"Water has been used several times as a tool from the beginning of a full -scale invasion Also to a longer -term drying outcome of reservoirs, ”Sheldon said. On this basis, he suggested that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation considers the tactics of flooding of the city, since since the construction of the dam, the Tokmachka River has expanded significantly to the east of the city, and flooded the nearby fields.

The published pictures, mounted in a short video, shows that the makeshift dam is located within the defense line, which bends the city of Tokmak, which is located on several lines of defense, as can be seen on the map above. And the traces of the tires coming from the dam make it possible to assume that it can also serve as a second bridge. "Increasing the water level in the Tokmachka River may be part of a larger effort to slow down the promotion of Ukrainian troops.

In particular, this may be part of an attempt to slow down Tokmak's eastern bypass in the event of a breakthrough of Ukrainian forces near the city," the investigator summarized. We will remind, in the second half of June of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation now undermine the dams where the Armed Forces is conducted. The occupiers managed to replace a large number of hydraulic structures in Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions.
