Switzerland refused re -export of its weapons to Ukraine

It is reported that parliamentarians rejected the proposal of Liberal Tierry Burcart to mitigate the Declaration on the prohibition of re -export. Germany, Spain, and Denmark were asked for re -export that was introduced in connection with the policy of Switzerland's neutrality.

According to the Federal Assembly, the proposal demanded that re -export banned if military equipment is supplied to countries dedicated to Swiss values ​​and have an export control regime that can be compared to Swiss. Most members of the Parliamentary Security Policy (Sik-S) recommended to vote against. There is another initiative from Parliament, which will be considered in the near future. It is proposed to approve the Export Prohibition Declaration.

According to the proposal, the declaration can be canceled if the re -export of military equipment is related to the situation in which the UN Security Council or the UN General Assembly has identified the contradiction of the prohibition of force in accordance with international law.

It is noted that in the process of a survey published in February by the Somomo Institute, the majority of Switzerland's population spoke for the mitigation of the rules for the transfer of Swiss military materials. 55% believe that third countries should be allowed to supply Swiss weapons to Ukraine.

We will remind, on February 15 it was reported that in Switzerland they concluded that they could not confiscate frozen assets of Russia in favor of Ukraine, as this is contrary to the laws of the republic, but promised to continue to support Ukraine in other ways. At the same time, Bern allowed to start the confiscation of frozen assets of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in favor of Kiev.
