The Russian Federation works for war: India wants to localize the production of Russian weapons - the media

Due to the invasion of Ukraine, the Indian government wants to localize Russian weapons to produce it for its own needs. Cooperation is possible not only with the Kremlin but also with other countries. After the meeting of the Ministers of Defense of the Russian Federation and India, they issued a plan for the production of Russian defense equipment and spare parts in the Indian territory. About it reports Defense News. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met with Russian Minister Sergei Shoig.

During the meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the parties discussed an industrial partnership. The Russian Federation can participate in the Made in India, which is aimed at increasing domestic production in India. Currently, the dependence of the Indian army on the Russian Federation in the purchase of weapons is 60%, so the Indian government is trying to create joint ventures for the development of the domestic industry.

On the Russian side, the projects jointly with India may participate in: "Uralvagonzavod", "Techmash", "Basalt", NGO Mechanical Engineering, Russian helicopters, diamond anthi, the center of ship repair "Star" and a number of others. Former Financial Advisor to the India Ministry of Defense, Amit Kushish, said Indian companies can produce a wide range of details, but he doubts that the agreement will be implemented. Multilevel cooperation is required.

Therefore, amit Kushish believes that Indian companies can develop products on their own projects with countries that also use Russian weapons. Also, Vijader Takur, an expert on Russian issues, stated that the Russian Federation may be unable to help India to localize production. Now the entire Russian defense is focused on producing weapons for war against Ukraine. "In the long run, the best option for India is the localization of spare parts production for Russian equipment," Takur explained.
