"We do not want to be a transit country." Finland is preparing to ban the entry to the Russians

Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto on Wednesday, September 21, stated that the country was preparing a decision to restrict Russian tourists. According to Yle, Kaavisto said that Finland does not want to be a transit country for Russians with Schengen visas issued by other countries. According to him, now Helsinki is preparing a solution that will soon be transferred to Parliament.

Iltalehti video with reference to Kaavisto's words writes that Finland is preparing to "restrict or completely prevent this flow of tourists [from Russia]. " Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba urged him to join the Baltic States and Poland during a meeting with a Finnish colleague and to close the border with Russia. From September 19, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have banned the entry of Russian citizens with tourist Schengen visas issued by EU countries.

Currently, Finland is actually the only country of the Schengen area where Russian tourists can enter land. On September 12, the Council of the European Union's decision on suspension of the simplified visa agreement with Russia came into force against the background of a full -scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. On September 21, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a "partial mobilization" in Russia. After that, the Russians began to buy tickets to other countries.
