Ukraine can extradite the Russians involved in the Hague's war - the ISS Prosecutor

Kyiv can legally issue the Hague Russians even given the fact that Russia is not a member of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan assured. Kyiv authorities can extradite captives to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, if lawsuits are unable to take place in Ukraine for legal reasons. This was stated by the ISS Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, reports France 24 with reference to AFP.

Khan noted that Russia refused to join the ISS in 2002, when the court was created, but from a legal point of view it would not be an obstacle to the activity of the body. "Of course, if there was a necessity . . . and there would be a reason why these lawsuits could not happen in Ukraine, or because of any legal additional provisions . . . I am sure that we would have been assisted by Ukraine (in this matter ) " - added the prosecutor.

The agency noted that the ISS has initiated the investigation of war crimes committed during a full -scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, shortly after its beginning, but the court seeks Ukraine to hold suspects on its own, where and when possible. The Khan did not specify when the ISS was going to make his first accusations, noting that he would wait until sufficient evidence of the crime is acquired.

Journalists added that in Ukraine the terms for war crimes have already received 10 people who participated in a full -scale invasion. 186 people were charged, mostly in absentia. 45 people were sent to court. We will remind, in March the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICS) in Hague Karim Khan and the investigative group came to Ukraine to gather evidence of war crimes of the aggressor country.
