In Mariupol, the Russians dismantled the monument to the artist Arkhip Quinji (video)

Representatives of the Russian authorities decided to demolish it. The Ukrainian authorities called such actions by the destruction of the city's cultural fund. The sculptor Vasily Polok is the author of the monument. He portrayed young Quinji. It was installed at the intersection of Shevchenko Boulevard and Metallurgs Avenue in 1984. In 1991, the monument was subsequently decided to move to the Greek Square, where it stood so far.

On the territory of the city, as reported in the City Council, opened the Art Museum named after Archip Quinji in 2010. The Russian invaders were destroyed at the end of March 2022 during an attack on the city. Almost 2,000 exhibits from the institution were stolen. The premises were stored not only by Archip Kuindji, but also by Mykola Glushchenko and Tatiana Yablonskaya and others. Archip Quinji is a Ukrainian painter-landscape painter of Greek origin. His work is known all over the world.

He was born in Mariupol in 1841. Among the most famous paintings are the red event, the Ukrainian night, the moonlight on the Dnieper, the birch grove. These works are stored in well-known museums worldwide, in particular, in the premises of the New York Metro. In February, this American institution changed information about the painting, recognizing it as a Ukrainian artist.

We will remind, in February Metropolitan Museum in the United States recognized Illya Repin, Quinji and Ivan Aivazovsky by Ukrainians. The institution has changed signatures for paintings of artists exhibited in the gallery. At the end of March in Mariupol, the troops of the Russian Federation destroyed the Kuinji Museum, where the works of famous artists were stored. During the hostile bombing, the original paintings of Aivazovsky, Jablonskaya and other masters remained in the institution.
