If Russia begins the annexation of the occupied Ukrainian territories, the United States, together with other countries, is ready to impose immediate sanctions that will lead to grave consequences for the Russian economy. White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre stated this during a briefing.

"We are ready to put additional rapid and difficult economic consequences on Russia - together with our allies and partners - in response to these actions, if they go further about the annexation," said Biden administration spokeswoman.
