Used a fake person: in Norway arrested Brazilian on suspicion of espionage on the Russian Federation

The Norwegian police believes that the arrested man is a Russian who has arrived in the country to build an agency network. This detention was a continuation of the series of arrests of Russians. On October 24, a citizen of Brazil was arrested in the Norwegian city of Tromes on the road, reports NRK. Police suspect that a man arrived in Norway under a fictional name to work for Russian intelligence. The journalists visited the court building, where the arrested case was considered.

"We demanded that the Brazilian researcher at Tromse University expelled from Norway, because we believe that he poses a threat to fundamental national interests," said Hedwig ME, assistant to the Head of the Norwegian Police (PST). PST assumes that a Russian citizen who used a fake person for espionage in favor of Russia is arrested.

Having arrived at Tromose University in the fall of 2021 under the guise of a Brazilian scientist, he actually explored the northern region of the country, building an agency network and collecting information that could be of interest to Russian special services. According to Gedvig Mo, the spy helped to cooperate with the safety services of other countries. According to PST, Russia has long used illegal aliens in its intelligence work, but such intelligence officers are rarely exposed.

Illegals work for a very long time, their life history is created for a long time. As a rule, they do not have a direct spy mission. According to the MoD, in many cases, the problems of illegals are faster to facilitate the operation of other spies that need a network of agents and access to confidential information. On September 24, TV2 reported the Norwegian police detention of two Russians in Nurlan province. They are suspected of illegally shooting military facilities.

The Russians claim that they have come to the country for tourist purposes and deny accusations of espionage. Over the past few weeks, the police have detained at least nine Russian, all of them have been accused of violating sanctions that have been introduced after the February invasion of Russia into Ukraine. Sanctions provide for a ban on the launch of drones and shooting of classified objects.

Among the detainees - Andrey Yakunin, the son of a colleague of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the former head of "Rzhd" Vladimir Yakunin, the Russian was detained in the northern part of Norway. During the detention, he managed the drone, directing him to the islands of Svalbard Archipelago.

The media do not reject that the interest of the Russians, in particular, can cause gas transportation infrastructure, since after reducing the consumption of Russian gas, Norway has become one of the largest fuel suppliers. In early October, it was reported that several unknown drones were noticed over a military training ground in Germany, where Ukrainian servicemen study. The Bundeswehr is not rejected that the Russians were driven by drones.
