At the beginning of December 2022, the so -called "governor" of Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo announced construction work on the Arabat arrow - a sandy spit that connects Crimea with Kherson region. The occupiers decided to build a new city on the Azov Sea - with multi -storey residential buildings and all the necessary infrastructure. The apartments were promised to give the residents of the region who left the territories liberated by Ukraine or from the settlements that are under fire.
At the same time, the balance assured that the Russians began to develop project-estimated documentation. On the eve of New Year, the invaders clarified their plans for a new settlement. The balance, which became the mouthpiece of the Russians in this territory, assured that "government bodies" would be transferred to the new city, as well as to create hospitals, kindergartens, schools and parks.
The settlement, according to the occupiers of the invaders, will be designed for 30 thousand inhabitants. The occupiers do not retreat from their plans: already in February the propaganda edition of "RIA Novosti Crimea" (the regional branch of the Russian information agency "RIA Novosti") published a video in which the balance shows the already started construction.
The collaborator emphasizes that the new city will not be "exclusively resort", now the main works are underway at "government quarter objects" - here the Russians plan to place their "governing bodies". On March 24, the henchman's assistant reported that the planning of the new city was completed. The next stage he called the creation of appropriate infrastructure, then the occupiers plan to build houses. "It will be a real pearl of the Azov," the balance added.
The head of the laboratory of geoinformation systems of the World Center for Data on Geoinformatics and Sustainable Development Sergey Gapon believes that it is impossible to seriously comment on the construction of a new city on the Arabat arrow seriously. "All these projects that the Russians will offer and already offer, one hundred percent are fantastic. Even there is nothing realistic for some fate and can not be," - emphasizes the expert in the comment of the focus.
And the point is not that the invaders do not really come together and just create a picture. On the contrary - to drive the technique on sandy braid and start large -scale work they are quite capable, confident Gapon. But the Russians have no goal to build a real city that can function in the future and be filled with people. "It is all done to just divide, to spray money [on construction], which at the last moment you can still get from the Russian budget," - said the expert.
By the way, the balance in any of its speech on the new city speaks of "investors" who seem to be ready to transfer funds to the creation of housing on a braid. However, the names of companies are not voiced, in fact, as well as specific numbers of investments.
In a commentary of Focus, the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration's presenter confirms in a comment to Focus that the project of the new city on the border with Crimea is more like "Potemkin villages" than real construction. He is convinced that the occupying power in the area only creates the appearance of work started. "According to the people who remain in the Genichesky district, it is all the picture on the camera and no more," - explains the representative of Khova.
According to Tolokonnikov, Russian propagandists are filmed on local long -term. Obviously, we are talking about Professor Koziavkin's balneological clinic, which was started to be built near the village of Snack in 2005. In different years, the abandoned building was looked at different projects, but it was not proven to the way. Judging by the staff published on the network, the Russians call the clinic their "government quarter" and show it as their own construction.
Tolokonnikov is convinced that in this way the occupying power wants to prove to the Kremlin, which does not sit out of work and absorbs the conquered territory. Moscow needs to create the illusion of construction, which will serve as a symbol of their power, as well as to show the Russians and, in fact, to the Ukrainians that the Russian Federation has been here for a long time.
But after the liberation of the territory, everyone will see that they built "cardboard houses" on the arrow, which even with a stretch will not be able to name not what the new city, but even a village, says a spokesman of Khov. Assuming that the Russian project is real and they really want to build a new city, this idea is still doomed to failure. And the main reason for this is the lack of drinking water on the oblique.
"Any settlement that will be placed on the Arabat arrow will be isolated from the" Great World ". It will immediately face the problem of fresh water, which there is no way to get," the expert explains. In Crimea, a similar problem could still be solved partially due to wells, which are largely drilled on the peninsula. But on the braid between the Crimea and the Kherson region, this option will not be possible to implement, Gapon says.
In fact, the arrow on both sides is surrounded by salt water: on the one hand it is the Azov Sea, on the other - Sivash. "Even if you can find a large fresh horizon on the braid, which is in principle little realistic, then this water will immediately turn into salty," he adds. However, it is not only the lack of drinking water, the situation in the Kherson region does not generally contribute to the construction of a new city.
The Russians are more careful about how to preserve the territories at all, that they have made it, including the Genichesky district and the Arabat arrow. Not for nothing the so -called "Crimean Chairman" Sergei Aksyonov tells about the creation of a defensive line. In such circumstances, it is extremely difficult to build real construction.
