The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed the Karlov reservoir: in the Donbass are prepared for evacuation (video)

Ukrainians living in Zhelanne-1, Zhelanne-2 and Halycinovtsi villages have warned about possible evacuation as water could threaten their safety. Russian invaders destroyed the dam of the Karlovsky Reservoir, which led to the threat of flooding of three villages. This was reported by the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavel Kirilenko during the National Teleterna on Thursday, May 25.

Kirilenko stressed that since the beginning of the full -scale invasion of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, Russian invaders have systematically fired both the reservoir and the settlement of Karlovka itself. "We were ready for this development, and therefore the operational and rescue services of Donetsk region have already started operating with a clearly defined algorithm," Kirilenko said.

He also stated that, if necessary, residents of three villages were evacuated from the danger zone. First of all, it concerns families with young and minor children. The Karlovsk reservoir is an artificial reservoir of lake type, on the Vovchiy River. It is located 40 kilometers from Donetsk, the nearest settlement - Karlovka.

It is used for storage of drinking water reserves of Donetsk, as well as to meet the production needs of the Krasnolimanskaya mine, an enrichment factory with the same name and other industrial enterprises. The reservoir was created in 1933 as a component of the Dnipro - Donbas channel system for the supply of drinking and industrial water from the Dnieper. The construction of the channel was preserved in 1996. The area of the water mirror is 2. 52 km. The full volume is 62. 5 m³, useful - 17.

9 m³. We will remind, in February 2023 it became known that Russian invaders began to drain the Kakhovka reservoir. According to journalists, due to the water recession in the Kakhovka reservoir, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians were threatened with drinking water, as well as almost half a million agricultural acres. However, the most important thing - without water in the Kakhovka reservoir will not be able to operate the cooling system of Zaporizhzhya NPP.

And in April 2022, the NSDC first spoke that Russian troops could blow up a dam on the Karlovsky Reservoir. The department reported that several pro-Russian telegrams began to appear that in Karlovka (Donetsk region) "nationalist battalions replaced the dam of the Karlovsky Reservoir.
