Russia rejects a peaceful agreement on termination of war

A permanent representative of Russia at the UN in Geneva Gennady Gatilov said that the Kremlin was rejecting a peace agreement on termination of the war against Ukraine. Moscow awaits a long war. He told this Financial Times. According to Gatilov, Russia now does not see the possibility of diplomatic resolution of the issue. “I do not see the opportunity for diplomatic contacts at this time. And the more the conflict continues, the more difficult it is to find a diplomatic solution, ”he said.

Video Gatilov said that the UN should play a big role in attempting to end the war, and accused the US and other NATO countries that they are pressing on Ukraine so that it does not go to negotiation. According to him, there will be no direct negotiations between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

Former Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin said in an interview with Radio NV that Putin is now very needed negotiations, so he would try to "play" - to bargain to the captured territories, to spin, to slow down escalation, to seek contacts in the event, etc. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine's negotiations with the aggressor country are possible only provided that Russian troops leave illegally occupied Ukrainian territories.

Prior to that, the Ukrainian president said that negotiations are impossible because Russia does not want to end the war and decided to completely destroy Ukraine. At the end of June, the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak said that a peace treaty with Russia is possible when Ukraine resumes its territorial integrity.
