Disoriented War: Rare birds in southern Ukraine risk not survive winter

Due to active fighting and climate change, many rare birds remain in winter in Ukraine, which is why they risk the victims of predators. Every year, millions of birds fly in the fall through the National Nature Reserve "Tuzlovsky estuaries" in Africa for the winter. This year, this did not happen because of the war and climate change. About it reports scientific journalist and employee of the reserve Ivan Rusev on Facebook.

After winter, many birds fly to the Tuzlovsky estuary reserve, including different types of ducks, geese and swans. According to Rusev, it is a normal ecological process. In recent years, because of a slight cold, thaw and low feed in the national park, birds have been losing their orientation. With the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation, birds have become even more disoriented and remain in the Tuzlov estuaries despite the onset of winter.

National Park staff recorded the following species of birds: "If there is a sharp cooling, these birds are inability to get feed and hypothermia, weaken and will become a natural victim of mammalian predatory and birds that are constantly patrolling in us, among whom the most effective and more vigilant - the eagle of Bilovist," Rusev. "Tuzlovsky estuaries" is a national nature park located in the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district of Odessa region.
