This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a March 20 Press, CNN writes. Blinken noted that the meeting of Xi Jinping with Vladimir Putin took place a few days after issuing a warrant for the arrest of the Russian President with an International Criminal Court in the Hague.
"China is not responsible for holding the Kremlin to the atrocities committed in Ukraine, and instead of even condemning them, it will rather provide a diplomatic cover for Russia to continue to commit the same crimes," the US Secretary of State says . . Blinken also noted that some points of the so -called Chinese peace plan coincide with the position of the United States.
It is about providing nuclear security, protecting civilians, solving humanitarian problems, as well as calls for maintaining the independence and territorial integrity of all states. At the same time, the US official stated that any calls for freezing military conflict that do not provide for the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine can be regarded as ratification of occupation.
Anthony Blinken claims that such a step would give the Kremlin the opportunity to fill the loss and go back on the attack at a favorable time. Blinken also suggested that Beijing does not think that Russia should punish war crimes in Ukraine. According to him, this is indicated by the trip of Xi Jinping to Moscow after the decision of the ISS on the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of Putin.
