The EU doubts the rapid confiscation of the currency assets of the Russians in favor of Ukraine

Many sub -Russians have complained against personal restrictions, so the legitimate freezing of assets is a serious challenge for Brussels. The EU told about the complexity of confiscation of Russian foreign exchange reserves in favor of Ukraine. About it writes Euractiv with reference to AFP. The head of the EU Operational Group Anders, Anides believes that such a step will be unprecedented and complex at the same time.

According to the expert, "there is nothing simple" when it comes to finding large sums for the restoration of Ukraine with the help of Russian currency assets. In particular, Anides noted that finding a legitimate way to confiscate Russian currency assets is a challenge. For example, it is known about the case where some of the sanctions were suspended against the Russian Nikita Mazepin - a Russian rider and a businessman's son from the Russian Federation.

In addition, many sub -Russians have complained against the restrictions imposed on them in Europe. "This only indicates that our European Union is an alliance built on the rule of law," explains the head of the EU operational group. The case of arrest of Russian currency assets is, in fact, the first in the history of the Union, if you do not take into account the confiscation of Iraqi assets in Saddam Hussein. "I hope we will be able to achieve results during the presidency (Sweden in the EU) . . .

But these are difficult questions. There will be short -term and long -term aspects of what we are doing," Andes says. The expert's opinion, the working group should be innovated and move forward. Despite the statement on the complexity of confiscation of Russian state and private assets, Anders Anides believes that all the destruction caused by war should only compensate for Ukraine. We will remind, in Canada the assets of Roman Abramovich are confiscated.
