Yermak-Macfola International Expert Group has presented a new plan for strengthening sanctions against Russia-Presidential Office Head

On behalf of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, the International Working Group on Sanctions against Russia, headed by Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, together with the Director of the Institute of International Research Frim-Pogli (FSI), Ambassador Michael McFolom, presented a new plan of action to further strengthen the sanction pressure on Russia. . The head of the Presidential Office told this during an online meeting with representatives of the expert and media environment.

Andriy Yermak explained that the plan of action to strengthen sanctions against Russia, which the International Expert Group presented last year, became the basis for the introduction of important sanctions. “The documents of our group today lie on the tables of all world leaders and all those who are sanctioned.

I am proud that today our group is at the basis of more than 70% of sanctions that have been implemented and implemented by the US, the EU, the United Kingdom and other countries, ”he said. Andriy Yermak stressed that thanks to the work of the group, embargo on Russian oil and petroleum products, price limitation on them, full blocking sanctions against approximately 20 largest Russian banks, and Russia were deprived of all the rights in FATF.

In addition, trade restrictions have been an unprecedentedly wide list of dual -use goods, individual sanctions on thousands of people from different spheres were imposed, the coordination mechanism of implementation of the sanctions of the Great Seven was created. “Almost everything from the foreground was implemented. I would like to thank all Ukrainians for it. Sanctions are a strong weapon with which we protect our country and which we will win the aggressor, ”he said.

The head of the head of state reported that the International Working Group has introduced and published a new plan for sanctions - Action Plan 2. 0. “We expect new powerful sanctions packages provided for in this plan. This is an extremely important document, and I thank everyone who participated in its development, ”said Andrei Yermak. He stressed that the new plan should be as soon as possible to the world leaders and relevant organizations that take care of the issues of sanctions.

Ukraine expects to submit Russian propagandists who support aggression against Ukraine to the next sanctions packages of Russian propagandists. Andriy Yermak also noted the importance of imposing sanctions on Russian athletes whom the aggressor country uses as a tool for promoting his war.

The head of the Presidential Office explained that Ukraine continues communication with partner states, in particular with the countries of the global south, to strengthen the sanction regime in relation to Russia. According to Andrei Yermak, the leaders of these countries are well aware of the situation in Ukraine, and therefore expectations for their determination are quite great.

Ambassador Michael McFol emphasized that, despite the considerable amount of work performed in the context of the sanction struggle, many work still needs to be implemented. It was on these areas that experts focused on the preparation of the updated plan. The directions of sanction pressure proposed in the document are very specific. It is about the most painful points of the Russian economy to be pressed to reduce Russia's potential for hostilities.

In particular, Mr Macfol emphasized the importance of further imposing sanctions on the energy complex of the Russian Federation and the defense industry, limiting the use of financial instruments, the issue of confiscation of assets of the Central Bank of Russia and their subsequent transfer to Ukraine, as well as other areas, reflected in the plan.
