"Powers Limited": Spring call to the Russian Federation can hurt Putin's plans in Ukraine - ISW

According to analysts, the authorities will still not send young conscripts to the front, but it is still necessary to spend resources on them, and this is a serious problem for the Kremlin. Spring call can interfere with Russia's combat units in Ukraine. Analysts from the American Institute of War (ISW) wrote this in their report on March 30. The spring call in Russia will begin tomorrow, April 1, and this can be a serious obstacle to the Kremlin's plans.

It will be more difficult for the occupiers to replenish their own combat units in hot spots. Analysts believe that the head of state Vladimir Putin can consider it a threat to the stability of his power, if you send young conscripts to Ukraine. Therefore, the political and military leadership of the country has decided to bet on mobilization and a set of mercenaries, but now it will be even more difficult.

At the same time, the recruits are not going to be sent to the war, it is probably necessary to spend resources on them, and this will only complicate the Kremlin's situation. "Russia's training capacity is limited. The conscripts who will not fight in 2023 deprives the Kremlin's ability to teach reservists and volunteers," the ISW report reads.
