What schemes are trying to introduce the command of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are reported in the report of the Institute of War Study (ISW) of February 27. First of all, the enemy creates a so -called assault detachment, the size of a battalion, which is intended for assault attacks "In the forehead" fortified positions. It includes: the assault detachment consists of three assault mouths and tank compartment.
In each assault company there is a command element, two assault platoons, the number of which is much smaller than a regular platoon, a group of UAV, a group of combat armored vehicles (BBM), a platoon of fire and artillery, a reserve department, as well as a medical evacuation department. Each mouth has one tank and four BMP infantry or BMD-2 fighting vehicles with anti-tank starting installations, large-caliber machine guns and mortars.
For their part, assault platoons consist of 12 to 15 soldiers, which are divided into tactical groups by three persons, which are, in fact, the main maneuverable elements of formation. They start the assault in less than a minute after artillery training, while the platoon commander controls mortar fire. Analysts note that new tactical methods are probably used on the basis of experience in the battles of Wagner PEC under Bakhmut, where mercenaries used mainly frontal attacks.
In addition, the new tactical formation implies that Russian troops have replaced the outdated battalion-tactical group (BTGR) with these smaller and more maneuverable formations. Experts believe that by resorting to the simplified scheme of military formations, the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation tries to compensate for the general degradation of the Russian army, where they mobilized inexperienced and unopened soldiers.
At the same time, the Russian command uses tanks for direct fire support from the rear, not as a component of the all -military group. Thus, the enemy's military leadership gives priority to the protection of basic combat tanks, not to protect the infantry, which testifies to the huge losses of combat equipment in the first year of the war.
