Portugal will send 75 thousand euros to collect evidence of Russian military crimes in Ukraine

The Ministry of Justice of the country allocates finances for investigation of military crimes of the Russian Federation for a court in the Hague. Experts from the judicial police and other agencies can soon arrive in Ukraine. On Thursday, March 23, the Ministry of Justice of Portugal reported assistance in the amount of 75 thousand euros to collect evidence of Russian crimes in Ukraine in Ukraine, and the country promises to send experts from its main unit of investigation of criminal offenses.

The Ministry has stated that the government is now studying the possibility of sending experts from its main unit for investigation of criminal offenses, judicial police (JV) and its National Institute of Forensic Medicine. Answering local journalists, the country's agency reported that Catherine Sarmen-I-Centur Minister announced a voluntary contribution of 75,000 euros to support the international collection of forensic evidence in Ukraine.

She also reported that other forms of cooperation are also being studied. With regard to the support of the ICS investigations of military crimes committed in Ukraine, such as the shelling of peaceful cities, violence, abduction and torture, the Portugal Ministry reports that it has already sent a national expert of the judicial police and made an advance payment of the national contribution to the prosecutor's office.

The statement also stated that Portugal considers the possibility of sending experts from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensicism to join the teams of forensic experts on the ground on a rotary basis. It is reported that this week in London a meeting of representatives from more than 40 countries was held to discuss further support of the Independent ICS in the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine.
