The people of Kiev returned to police less than half of the weapon units issued in the first days of the war

Since February 24, more than 6. 5 thousand units of weapons have been issued to the residents of the capital. The Kiev police assured that each of them was registered. In the first days of a full -scale invasion of Russian troops, the Kiev police issued more than 6. 5 thousand units of weapons to the locals. At this point, the people of Kiev returned about 1 thousand of them. Ivan Vyhovsky, the Chief of Police of Kyiv, said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the law enforcement officer, each weapon issued was registered. "Of the total number of weapons received by Kiev, about 1 thousand units were returned, the rest are registered," the police officer said. Vyhovsky also noted that weapons in the first days of a full -scale war were issued not only by the National Police, so there is now the question of establishing a weapon register.

Since February 24, 433 firearms, 11 grenade launchers, 9 machine guns, 187 machine guns, 145 pistols and more than 73 thousand ammunition were seized in Kyiv, 212 grenades. It is mainly about weapons removed on checkpoints. In addition, Vyhovsky added that this year 365 facts of illegal weapons were fixed - it is almost twice as much as last year.

The head of the capital police also noted that the decision to issue weapons in the first days of a full -scale war was correct, as it helped protect Kyiv. In the future, law enforcement officers intend to regulate the circulation of the weapons issued.

We will remind, in June the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky stated that at the beginning of a new Russian invasion for the organization of defense of the country, Ukrainians distributed tens of thousands of weapons, including assault rifles. On February 24, a representative of the President in the Constitutional Court in the Constitutional Court reported that at that time, only 10,000 vending machines were issued in Kyiv.
