"For reasons of conscience": Ukraine was tried by a border guard who refused to take weapons

Ukrainian Desmond Prag received punishment because he refused to execute the commander's order because of "religious beliefs" that prohibit him with his weapons. In Lviv, the Lychakiv District Court issued a sentence of a junior sergeant of the State Border Service. He received 6 months of arrest for not fulfilling the command order. This is stated in the court sentence.

According to the case file, the reserve soldier at the end of February 2022 was appointed to the post of inspector of the State Border Service - the operator of the border protection department, where he is in military service. On July 25, 2022, he received an order from the commander to go on a business trip, but refused to execute it. Criminal proceedings were opened against the border guard under Part 4 of Art.

402 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - disobedience, open refusal to execute the order of the chief committed in the conditions of martial law. In court, the border guard explained that the order did not fulfill his religious beliefs that prevent him from taking weapons. The man pleaded in full and asked him to be cruelly not punished. In court, the crime was called serious and sentenced to "Ukrainian Desmond Dossa" up to 6 months of arrest.
