Only a third of the Russians have a video of the day passports. It travels to Europe even less. This is usually the middle class of Russian society. But it is about half that is representatives of corrupt Russian bureaucracy. These are not the people who make riots. The other half is business, creative class. It has people with both opposition views as well as Putin's supporters, and there is simply a "silent majority. " The latter are rigidly called "Thirpils".
And these people, too, are not involved in riots and even in ordinary protests. The Russian opposition is now destroyed and crushed. Much and active part of it emigrated, and those who remained - under the risks of repression, and the most active have already planted. To share the Putin regime, a serious political crisis in the Russian Federation is needed. The prohibition of Schengen visas for the Russians will not affect the provocation of such a crisis.
According to historical experience, political crisis in Russia can lead to a combination of several factors: socio-economic crisis; the military defeat of Russia; Internal weakening of Russian power (in various forms and for various reasons). With regard to the visa issue, Russia may not be banned from the departure from their country, but on the contrary - stimulating expert emigration (Aitish, engineers, etc. ). It will be relative, but still weakening.
And, most likely, under such conditions, Putin (or its regime) will start closing the country for departure. And such plans in Russia are already discussed. Therefore, the big question is - who will be more likely to ban Schengen visas for the Russians. But will there be a full ban on Schengen visas for the Russians? It is already known that no. For various reasons, but mainly because the effect of such a total prohibition in the West is considered questionable and ambiguous.
What you need, and what can be supported in both the EU and the West is the introduction of severe visa restrictions for Russians. In particular, it would be worth abandoning the simplified regime of visas for the Russians, as well as tourist visas for the Russians. Under the current conditions (Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine), such a simplified regime looks unfair and politically inappropriate.
Secondly, a ban on entry into the EU is needed by representatives of the Russian bureaucracy, as people who manage to provide this war. Third, it is necessary to check (before issuing a visa), whether the person who wants to come to the EU, the Russian Federation against Ukraine. If it supports, then such a person should be on the black list of those who are forbidden to enter the European Union.
That is, such restrictions should be a punishment for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and its support by specific Russians. For the Baltic countries, and possibly for some other countries, it is advisable to have a full ban on the entry of Russians. It will not be just appropriate, but an urgent way to protect national security. Let me remind you that in 2014, separatist rebellions in Ukraine took place with active and sufficiently mass involvement of Russian "tourists".
It is significant that the Kremlin-close to the Telegram-channel "Nezigar" has already announced the actions of resistance to Russian-speaking citizens of Latvia after Latvia declared Russia a sponsor of terrorism. This is the same "Nezing", which in June announced the shelling of Olenivka. So, such "announcements" should be taken seriously. And that is why the Baltic States need to be inspected from the subversive Russian "tourism".
