The European Union has created a cyber laboratory for the Armed Forces in Ukraine: why it is needed by Ukrainians

Equipment and software have been delivered to Ukraine, which will allow you to better prepare for new Russian cyberattacks. On December 2, the European Union opened a cyber defense laboratory in Kiev that will use the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The European External Action Service reported details on the official site. The EU leadership has used the European Peace Fund to buy and send equipment, software and protection tools needed to open a cyber laboratory.

It is intended to strengthen the Cyber Defense of the Armed Forces, namely: to detect attempts of hacking information systems in a timely manner, to prevent and reflect cyberattacks. Cyber laboratory is a educational and research environment consisting of several virtual and physical components. The technology presented in it allow users to create a realistic virtual environment for real -time protection.

In addition, the laboratory will become a training platform where new cybersecurity specialists will be prepared and experienced by experienced experts. The EU is convinced that thanks to this effort, Ukrainians will be able to fight hackers faster and more efficiently in the near future. "In a modeled network, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can learn to cope with high levels of stress, identifying and exploring vulnerability in various network systems.

Cyber laboratory and improved network safety help the Ukrainian military develop skills of detection, monitoring and counteraction. It should be recalled that on December 15, 2021, the EU assisted Ukraine with a European Peace Fund of 31 million euros. Some of the funds were decided to spend on the protection of virtual networks, namely on the software and hardware support of the Communication and Cyber Security Command.

Earlier, cybersecurity expert Konstantin Korsun complained that there is still no cyberwar in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. By this word, he means military units with a single command, clear structure, hierarchy, established coordination systems and funding that perform specialized tasks. In September, the co -founder of NGO "Ukrainian Cyberralians" Andrey Baranovich warned that Russian hackers are being prepared for Ukraine.
