The IAEA governing body urged Russia to stop the occupation of the Zaporozhye NPP

Video of the day in the resolution Russia is called to immediately stop all actions on Zaporizhzhya NPP and other nuclear facilities in Ukraine. The document also states that the Council "condemns the continuous violent actions of the Russian Federation" against Ukrainian nuclear objects and the constant presence of Russian military and employees of Rossa at the ZPP. The Council also stressed that the occupation of the station significantly increases the risk of nuclear accident.

The resolution was supported by 26 countries, two voted against (Russia and China), seven resistant (Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Burundi, Vietnam, India and Pakistan). On September 1, the IAEA delegation of 14 experts visited the Zaporozhye NPP in a temporarily captured energy. Specialists led by Raphael Grossi spent several hours in the territory. There are now two representatives of the mission at the station.

The CEO of the IAEA said that the delegation establishes a constant presence on the NPP. On September 6, the IAEA published a report on the results of the visit stating that there is now an urgent need to take temporary measures to prevent a nuclear accident, in particular to establish a safe area around the NPP. The agency also urged to stop the shelling in the station, but did not specify who was fire.

The largest nuclear power plant, Zaporizhzhya NPP, Russian invaders were captured after battles in Energodar on March 4. The buildings of the ZPE were damaged by Russian shelling in several places, and the staff of the station were captured. Russian troops have equipped fire positions for the ZPP and fired from there Ukrainian cities.

Energoatom reported that the military of the Russian Federation had placed in the machine hall of the first power unit of Zaporizhzhya NPP at least 14 units of heavy military equipment with ammunition, weapons and explosives. On August 22, the invaders brought additional APCs and special cargoes to the station repair area. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment of Russians were stationed in the station. In August, the invaders repeatedly arranged provocations with shelling.
