IKEA stores will close and work only on issuing orders, returning and exchange of goods. Orders, which are issued before the end of the online sales will be worked out during August and September on the agreed time. "We are forced to minimize storage time. The unclaimed orders will be disbanded and the money will be returned to the account from which the purchase was paid," the retailer warned. IKEA stores have been operating in Russia since 2000.
The company announced about stopping stores in the Russian Federation and Belarus on March 3. On this day, the Russians began to buy all the goods massively - there were many hours of vehicles near the shops. In stores, people were lining up at the cash desks. One of the Russian entrepreneurs even sued the Swedish retail network-the man demanded compensation for the disruption of his design studio.
Businessmen tried to register international brands under their names, but it was not fully done because of a violation of copyright law. For example, IKEA wanted to rename the "idea" and "the idea of a furniture factory". On June 15, IKEA decided to sell all factories in the Russian Federation and release production workers. At the beginning of 2022, about 15,000 people worked for the company.
