You are not happy here: Turkish banks stop working with Russian Mir Maps

Cooperation was stopped against the background of the US and the EU fears that Moscow would try to bypass sanctions using the Turkish banking sector. The new round of Russia's war against Ukraine forced Western countries to impose sanctions against the Russian economy. Turkey has now joined the EU restrictions: the largest banks of Denizbank and Isbank have refused to serve the maps of the Russian Payment System "Mir", Bloomberg reports.

Cooperation was stopped against the background of the US and the EU fears that Moscow would try to bypass sanctions using the Turkish banking sector. Last week, the US Department of Finance Control (ofac) warned Turkish financial institutions about the consequences for the conclusion of new ones or expanding the current agreements with the Russian Operator "Mir". Meanwhile, Russian news agency TASS writes that Russians can no longer withdraw cash in Turkey.

In particular, it is impossible to remove the Turkish lira at ISBank ATMs - the system refuses, citing "exceeding the daily limit". And, Denizbank ATMs report "Confirmation of Operation" and return the card. We will remind, earlier through EU sanctions, Finland border guards selected the Russian cash from the Russians. In particular, a resident of St. Petersburg Yuri told reporters how he went to Europe for a car, and returned home across the border between Finland and the Russian Federation.
