Data on the movement of ships indicate that cargo vessels in the Caspian are increasingly switched off transponders (an automatic identification system that is accepted to be on). This has encouraged experts to assume that they have the reasons to hide something. So, according to Lloyd's List Intelligence, since September, the Caspian Sea has significantly increased ships that hide data on their movement.
These are mainly ships under Russian and Iranian flags, including many ships suitable for transportation of military goods. Most often, the vessels at the Caspian are switched off near the Iranian ports of Amirarabad and Anzali, as well as on the Russian Volga and near Astrakhan. With Marinetraffic data, CNN tracked six Russian and two Iranian ships, which, according to analysts, behave suspiciously.
Some patterns were noticed - the vessels passed from Iranian ports to asthkhan, but they were not officially part of the port. Suspiciously, if the ship simply leaves one port and returns without going to another port. In this case, the ship is likely to ship the cargo to another ship, not to the port, the publication notes.
In addition, some ships have switched off the transmission of data on the approach to Amirarabad and Astrakhan, or in general moved for a long time with transponders switched off. CNN also analyzed Flightradar24 data and learned that from May to March this year, Iranian freight aircraft made at least 85 flights to the Russian Federation.
According to analysts, although some of the SHahred drones could be delivered to the Russian Federation by air, the sea is much more profitable because it is possible to transport a much larger load at a time. We will remind, on May 16, a representative of the White House National Security Council John Kirby stated that Russia was going to buy additional drones-Kamikadze Shahd from Iran. Moreover, since August, Tehran has transferred more than 400 such drones to Moscow.
