BTS singers are mobilized in the South Korean Army

Exceptions are made for athletes, musicians and dancers who won the highest prizes in competitions that increase the prestige of the country. And BTS, which received Billboard Music Awards, clearly increases the prestige, so they raised the conscript age to 30 years by the decision of Parliament. But this means that the senior participant of BTS Gin can threaten the call next year, because in December he is 30 years old.

On Friday, the Commissioner of the Personnel Service Li Kius Susy told the deputies that it is desirable to make BTS participants perform their military duties. Defense Minister Lead SOP ordered officials to study the need for a public survey to make a decision. Culture Box Minister Gun said his ministry would make a final decision in the near future. So, the people of South Korea themselves can decide whether the BTS K-POP should be military service.

One of the recent surveys found that 61% of respondents support exceptions for artists. But 54% of people from another survey said BTS should serve in the army. In August, the Minister of Defense stated that if the BTS participants enroll in the service, they would probably be allowed to continue rehearsals and join other band members for foreign concerts.

Recall that BTS can be considered a long-lived, the band has existed since 2013, with seven participants: RM (group leader), Gin, Shuga, Jay-Hope, Chinin, Vi and Chonguk. Initially, the name of the group was deciphered as Bangtan Boys, but in July 2017 the group changed the official logo and deciphering their name in English and they became Beyond the Scene.
