According to the UK Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin will consider the inability of the military to occupy the Donetsk region as a failure in achieving its maximalist goals in Ukraine. In the summary of the agency on Twitter it is said that on August 11, the Russian media reported that the leader of the so -called "DNR" Denis Pushilin stated that the date of the referendum on "accession to Russia" would be announced after the "full release" of the DNR.

Video of the day in June, investigative journalists posted evidence that DNR plans a strategy for such a referendum and ensuring that at least 70% of the vote is for joining Russia. The department noted that it is likely that Russia is at the stage of planning the referendum, although it is unclear whether the final decision on the vote is made.
