The grain agreement is threatened: the Russian Federation blocked the ships in the Black Sea - the Ministry of Infrastructure

The ministry noted that if such a state of affairs continues, global food prices are likely to increase by 15%. The agreement concluded through the UN and allows Ukraine to export grain through the Black Sea, is in a "critical condition" through Russia's actions. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine for Seaport and Shipping Yuriy Vaskov in a comment to The Guardian.

According to him, representatives of Russia, Turkey and the UN inspect the vessels on the way to Ukrainian ports and from them under the agreement. The Joint Commission approves the names of the courts to be inspected. However, on Tuesday, there were no checks on April 11. He noted that the Ukrainian side presented the names of three dry cargo carriers in accordance with the contract. However, the Russians crossed out the names from the list and provided the other 50 ships.

As a result of such actions, no vessel allowed to continue their path, which is tantamount to the actual blockade by Moscow. "Today we have a critical situation. The Russians have broken the conditions of the Black Sea Grain Initiative. They decided to unilaterally change the plans of Ukrainian ports. This is unacceptable," he said. The publication reminded that Russia has repeatedly expressed its dissatisfaction with a grain agreement.

Russia deliberately inhibits the verification process since October 2022. According to Vaskov, if such a state of affairs continues, the world prices for food are likely to increase by 15%. He said that Ukrainian farmers will be forced to stock up on grain again like last summer, and will face serious financial difficulties. Recall that on March 9, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov called the "dishonest" position of the West countries on the grain agreement.
