Responded Russia: The United States has tested the Minuteman III intercontinental missile

The US military states that the tests have shown the readiness of the US nuclear forces. They were conducted after Russia's statements for mass production of similar missiles "Sarmat". On August 16, the US military declared a successful test of intercontinental ballistic missile (IBR) Minuteman III, Reuters reports. "The trials have shown the readiness of the US nuclear forces and inspired the confidence in the deadly and efficiency of national nuclear deterrents," the Pentagon said.

The statement also said that the military had carried out approximately 300 such tests. The regular ones did not result from any specific global event. However, journalists remind that in 2022 they were postponed twice. In April, the tests were canceled to reduce nuclear tensions in relations with Russia during the war in Ukraine. In August, they were decided to postpone to avoid escalation of tensions in relations with Beijing during a Chinese demonstration of force near Taiwan.

Intercontinental ballistic missiles Minuteman III manufactures Boeing. They are capable of carrying nuclear weapons and are a key element of the Strategic Nuclear Arsenal of the US Armed Forces. The rocket range is about 13 thousand km. The maximum speed is approximately 24 thousand km/h. Missiles are launched from underground mines, driven by starting calculations.

On August 15, the head of Roscosmos Yuriy Borisov stated that the Russian State Corporation focused on the execution of military orders, in particular on the production of the new IBD "Sarmat". Sarmat PC-28 is a strategic missile system of mine base. The Russians say that the maximum range of the rocket flight is about 16 thousand km, the speed reaches 27 strokes - almost 33 thousand km/h.
