72 million panels were sold - 5. 8% less than in the same period last year. The main reason for analysts is the increase in inflation in Europe and the US, as prices are increasing, and purchasing power is declining. Lockdowns were a slightly less important factor due to new Covid-19 outbreaks in China, during which factories and shops are closed. The third reason for the reduction of sales was Russia's war with Ukraine.
Trendforce believes that the problems of these regions have greatly affected the world market. In the second half of the year, from July to December, manufacturers traditionally ship more TVs, but the remaining months of 2022 may not be as profitable as usual. According to the most optimistic TrendForce forecast, about 202 million devices will be sold in the year, ie 3. 8% less than 2021. Experts do not rule out that the market can sink up to 200 million units.
The popular South Korean manufacturers of Samsung and LG will be severely affected, which together occupy 33% of the market. Trendforce noted that Samsung's sale has fallen by almost 30% last quarter, and in annual calculation it can be reduced by 8% (38 million units). LG predicts supply reductions by 11. 6%, up to 25. 7 million devices. Samsung has several plants in different countries, including in the Kaluga region of Russia.
In March 2022, the company suspended production at the Russian enterprise for problems with logistics and resumed only in June exclusively for export. Samsung products will be brought to Russia from neighboring countries because of "parallel" imports, but even a temporary stop of the plant can affect the annual performance of the manufacturer and the entire market. Chinese companies Hisense, TCl and Xiaomi close the top five TV leaders.
The first ranks fourth, but Trendforce estimates, the only one may be in plus and sell 4. 3% more TVs (22. 7 million). The company can rise to the second place. TCl is trying to win the US and Europe markets, but has not achieved much success. Due to the above problems of its sale in these regions, they were quite low, and, according to experts, the finished figure will fall by 3. 6%. Xiaomi should maintain its position and sell about the same panels as in 2021.
Overclockers reminiscent that in 2020, the demand for TVs increased sharply against the background of pandemics and locksmiths, so manufacturers barely had time to provide the market with the required quantity of goods. Now these devices are not so needed for people, and companies have encountered excess products. It is likely that retailers will soon reduce prices to sell the accumulated models before new ones come out.
However, the Russians do not calculate the discounts, because official Samsun, LG and many manufacturers are closed due to invasion of Ukraine. "Parallel" imports creates additional logistics costs, so retail prices only rise. Earlier they wrote that in Russia they could be banned from selling any Xiaomi technique. Smart International Distribution Limited has submitted to the Moscow Court demanding that it be transferred to it for all products of a well -known brand.
