Solidarity with the EU. Montenegro Foreign Ministry proposes to cancel a visa -free regime for Russian citizens

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro proposes to suspend the visa -free agreement with Russia. This was stated by the head of the department Ranko Kryvkapich, reports DAN. The Minister made such a proposal after the EU Council suspended a simplified visa regime with the Russian Federation.

According to the newspaper, in the event of support of Montenegro this initiative, the Russians will be able to enter the country only if there is a visa.

The agreement on visa -free trips of Russian citizens and Montenegro has been valid between the countries since 2008. From June 1 to August 14, the state border at the entrance to Montenegro crossed 48 193 citizens of the Russian Federation, which is 15% more than in the same period of 2021, Dan notes. On July 31, the EU foreign ministers have reached a political agreement to completely suspend the simplified procedure for issuing visas to Russian aggressor citizens.
