This is our goal: Erdogan wants to plant the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia at the negotiating table

The Turkish leader hopes that the meeting of leaders of the fighting countries will take place in the near future. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on August 22 that he was hoping for negotiations of Presidents of Russia and Ukraine. "The war between Russia and Ukraine has the consequences that affect our country and all humanity. Everyone has witnessed Turkey to prevent every effort to prevent war and then end peace with it," Erdogan said.

He recalled that during a recent visit to Sochi he had the opportunity to discuss in detail with Vladimir Putin relations between the two countries and the war in Ukraine. Last week he went to Ukraine, where he met with Vladimir Zelensky and UN Secretary General Anthony Guttered. "Our goal is to collect Putin and Zelensky together in Turkey, in our country, I hope, in the near future," Erdogan said.

We will remind, earlier Turkish journalists, citing sources in the Russian Federation, reported that Putin had hinted Erdogan for a willingness to meet Zelensky. Shortly afterwards, Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that he suggested that Vladimir Zelensky a meeting with Vladimir Putin during his visit to Lviv on Thursday.

During the press conference, after the meeting in Lviv, the Ukrainian President assured that negotiations with the Russian leadership are possible only after the de -occupation of Ukraine. A few days later, a permanent representative of the Russian Federation at the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva Gennady Gatilov stated that there would be no direct negotiations between Zelensky and Putin.
