This is not a cowboy movie: Pope Francis called the war in Ukraine the third world

The Vatican's head is convinced that the war is always most affected by the people of war, who pay for the decisions of politicians with their lives. Pope Francis visited the capital of Kazakhstan, where he met with the Jesuits. During the conversation, the Vatican head commented on the situation in Ukraine and stated that it was a mistake to consider this conflict a war only between Russia and Ukraine, since it was a world war.

About it writes the edition of the Order of Jesuits La Civiltà Cattolica. "There is a war and I think it would be a mistake to think that it is a cowboy movie where there are good and bad guys. Also, it is a mistake to think that it is a war between Russia and Ukraine and no more. No, it is a world war," - said Francis. According to him, in this war the victim is undoubtedly Ukraine, but the causes of armed conflict should be understood.

The Pope believes that there are international factors that contributed to the provocation of war. He mentioned the case when, in December last year, one of the heads of state expressed concern that NATO was moving east. "NATO began to knock on the goal of Russia, not realizing that the Russians are imperines and were afraid of the lack of safety of borders. He expressed fear that it would provoke a war, and it exploded in two months," Francis said.

The Vatican's head in this connection stated that the world imperialists are now in a state of conflict, because when they feel some danger, they solve war as the only response to it. "I have no doubt that we have already lived in the conditions of the Third World War. For a century, we have seen three: one between 1914 and 1918, the other between 1939 and 1945, and now we are experiencing this," Francis is convinced.

He also stressed that both the Ukrainian and Russian people suffer in this war, and the poor people pay for suffering, which leads to multiplying mutual hatred. Therefore, victims in this situation are ordinary people who pay for the frenzy of war with their own lives. "They pay, as always, poor people. And it gives rise to hatred. Those who solve wars forget about humanity and do not look at the real life of people, but put party interests and power as a basis," the Vatican head emphasized.

Pope Francis also reminded the interlocutors of his statements about the Kremlin's war, in which he called the invasion of Ukraine unacceptable disgusting, meaningless, barbaric, blasphemous aggression. We will remind, Pope Francis indirectly criticized Patriarch Cyril for the support of the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
