"Will be used for free": Medvedev allowed the Russians to download movies from "Pirates"

The former president believes that widespread pirate copies on the Internet can destroy Western companies. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, urged to use pirate copies of the content that the right holders forbade to spread in the country. He stated this in an interview with the Russian media, reports Tarsus. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, many online services have closed the Russians with access to Western films, games and music.

According to Dmitry Medvedev, he was against theft of intellectual property formerly, but now, in the conditions of sanctions, users should find "right pirates" and load content into them illegally. "If they have come from us, all sorts of Netflix and others, then we will load it and use it for free," Medvedev addressed to journalists and users of the social network "VKontakte". The politician also suggested that Russian users actively distribute pirate content through Internet resources.

In his opinion, they will be able to do great damage to foreign companies and bring them to bankruptcy. "Let them be bad. We have recently discussed that they need to be deprived of some of the non -property rights, speaking the legal language they have here," Dmitry Medvedev summed up. It is worth noting that Netflix stopped working in Russia in March 2022. In April, the company reported about the loss of 700 thousand Russian subscribers, but its shares fell by 25%.
