Russia should not be able to revive defense production - President

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes the importance of increasing sanction pressure on the Russian Federation so that the aggressor state does not have the opportunity to revive its defense production in full. The Head of State stated this during a meeting with media representatives as a result of the 24th Summit of Ukraine-the EU in Kiev. “We are extremely interested that Russia is not able to revive defense production. The sanctions have slowed down all these processes.

We clearly understand how many missiles were made before the start of a full -scale invasion and what is happening now thanks to the sanctions of the EU, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other partners, ”said Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Therefore, he said, it is extremely important that Russia is not able to bypass restrictive measures, in particular with the help of other states.

The President stated that there are countries that supply weapons, missile program, drones or otherwise support Russia. "Therefore, it is very important for us to send clear messages to these countries at the EU and the US level - it is very important to stop the restoration of this production," the President stressed. Another important moment, the Head of State called the imposition of sanctions against Rosatom and its leadership.

He emphasized that the Russian occupation forces captured the Ukrainian ZPP, and the missile attacks of the Russians caused a catastrophic situation in the energy system of Ukraine and made it impossible to export our electricity to Europe. “They captured six nuclear blocks. They captured our people. They seized the management of this station. This is such a modern slavery in Russian-that's what is happening there. They do not release these specialists, force them to change citizenship.

They take their children in hostages and send to the territory of the Russian Federation. This happened with some employees of this station. And we understand who manages nuclear energy in the Russian Federation. And here there is all the evidence, these people came to this nuclear station - it is "Rosatom", - said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Therefore, according to the President, due to nuclear blackmail of Russia and illegal actions against employees of the ZPP, it is necessary to apply international sanctions on Rosatom's management. The European Council President Charles Michel noted that during the year the EU unanimously approved nine packages of sanctions on the Russian Federation.
