"Better buy sea drones": a military analyst about why Ukraine is not transferred to ships

Frags and submarines are expensive marine vessels that are extremely problematic to deliver to Ukraine. On the one hand, there is a Bosphorus Strait closed for warships, and on the other-the Rhine-Main-Dunabe channel with size restrictions. The Ukrainian army is exacerbated by many types of weapons, but the Navy does not receive large ships or submarines. Former Italian military and analyst Thomas Tainer explained why it would not continue.

On February 27, 2022, Turkey closed the Bosphorus Strait for any warship. Therefore, if Ukraine transmits a submarine or frigate, then to enter the Black Sea, Ankara must open the strait. According to Tainer, in this case it will be opened for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. In particular, for the cruiser "Varang", which the occupiers want to replace the destroyed "Moscow".

Even if you assume that the passage of warships will only allow Ukraine, the Russian Federation will immediately find out where the submarine or ship will go, and will wait for it in the Black Sea. This will mean the instant loss of the shipped ship. There is also a Rhine-Main-Danube channel, but it will even be more difficult with it: in the end, the Russian Federation will still know, says the analyst when the ship goes to the Black Sea.

While the ship is sent through the channel, the air defense of Ukraine will be able to cover the warship. However, as soon as the ship enters the Black Sea, the Russian Federation will be able to detect it and in 30 minutes will launch rockets for damage to the ship. "In general, do not waste your time. The 324 mm NATO torpeda will be able to destroy the Russian warship, and the Navy of the Russian Federation will not even understand that they have hit them.
