"Technique unreliable, three days' stocks": German Defense Minister recognized the bad state of the German army

In the German army, only a third of PZH 2000 is in order, the Marder BMP replacement program is at risk of disruption. However, positive changes are, for example, the purchase of the F-35 per 13 billion euros. German Minister Kristin Lambrecht in an interview with Deutschlandfunk said that the situation in the Bundesver is bad in an interview with the German edition, but was being improved.

The interview started from context: the Puma BMP procurement program has suffered, only a third of all PZH 2000 is located in the system, and the Germany has a call to lead the NATO forces of rapid response. Lambrecht said that the situation was not so deplorable. The Bundesver has concluded an agreement for the purchase of F-35 fighter jets for 13 billion euros. The army is finally purchasing radio stations, and there is a progress to acquire personal protective equipment for soldiers.

The situation in the German army is explained by the fact that for many years in Germany saved on defense. She cited an example that in 2015, a year after the annexation of Crimea, the ammunition was purchased for only 300 million euros a year. In 2022, this amount is € 900 million. The situation with a malfunction of BMP Puma, as Lambrecht says, was known. Now Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Rheinmetall have to repair them for several weeks.

If they do not cope with the task, then there will be no contract for new BMP deliveries. EUR 5. 9 billion was allocated for the purchase of 350 Puma in 2020. And for NATO response forces will be sent Marder BMP. It turns out that out of 105 PZH 2000, only 36 are in a state of combat. At the same time, in 2021, 121:15 was transferred to Ukraine, and one more was written off or taken for spare parts for other cars.
