"Political Culture": The expert told why Scholz has long refused to give Ukraine weapons

According to the analyst, Chancellor Scholz is a self -confident politician and has to obey public calls for action. German Chancellor Olaf Sholtz has earned a reputation as a policy that does not dare to take a new step for a long time when it comes to supplying weapons to Ukraine. This is due to the political culture of Germany, as stated by the senior analyst of the German Marshall Thomas Klein-Brokhoff, writes Associated Press.

According to him, Scholtz is an unwavering self -confident politician. He is accustomed to obey public calls for action, and more often follows his approach. Kleyne-Brokhoff stated that Scholz decided from the very beginning that he did not want to lead in military assistance to Ukraine. On the other hand, he wants Germany to be a good member of NATO. But the cautious approach "drives allies from the mind" and raises the question of whether they can count on the Germans.

The expert stated that Germany's caution in the supply of weapons is related to the country's political culture. In his opinion, no Chancellor of Germany wants to be noticed in the promotion of the military agenda. Yes, German politicians want to experience the rest of the options before resorting to a military decision. The analyst said that the Germans' behavior is quite acceptable. According to many voters, the chancellor should be careful, resist the calls of partners and try other options.

Kleyne-Brokhoff noted that such political culture is related to the sense of memory that Germany was a country that had unleashed the Second World War. Earlier, Focus wrote that Scholt criticized the haste of allies with the supply of Leopard 2 tanks 2 in Ukraine. According to Spiegel journalists, on January 13, at a meeting of German Social Democrats, Scholz continued to give evidence in favor of his position on Leopard 2 tanks for Ukraine.
