The court left the UEFA decision to remove football clubs from the Russian Federation from competitions
The publication writes that in May 2022, several Russian clubs from the Premier League-CSKA, Dynamo, Zenit and Sochi-appealed to the court to cancel the UEFA decision as discriminatory, but CAS rejected the appeal, which was informed on the official website of the organization.
"The Commission believes that in extraordinary and unprecedented circumstances, UEFA collided, and to achieve its statutory goals, the decision being challenged was reasonable and one that needed to be taken," the press release said. It was also emphasized that the UEFA decision did not violate the principles of political neutrality, was not discriminatory and is within the competence and discretion of the UEFA.
Therefore, Russian football clubs will not be allowed to participate in the European Cups due to events in Ukraine. We will remind, the national football team will take part in qualifying matches for the European Championship-2024, despite participation in the tournament of the national team of Belarus. As reported on April 24 by the President of the Ukrainian Football Association Andriy Pavelko, now the national teams of Ukraine and Belarus are divorced by different groups of tournament.
